Curricula description

Degree program
I-KT  Mechanical and Production Engineering
The main objective of the mechanical and production engineering degree program is to provide the student with necessary knowledge and skills needed while working in different design, research, production, marketing, projecting and administrative tasks in business entities both in private and public sector as well as in export business. The study program also creates skills for working as private entrepreneur.

The graduate can for example work as a production engineer, design engineer, sales engineer, operator and purchaser.

Annual Themes
I-KT-1  Understanding and conceptualising machines and energy technology related devices
The student will become familiar with machines and energy technology related devices by disassemblying and researching an equipment set. The student will get basic knowledge of mechanical engineering.
I-KT-2  Understanding the meaning of machine components and the functioning of the mechanisms
Understanding the meaning of different sub-assemblies in machines and other mechanical equipment.
I-KT-3  Design of sub-assembly or system construction
Setting the design task and producing the requirement list. Design of the basic solution or layout. Making the project proposal (construction or system). Production of product and system documentation.
I-KT-4  Design and production of one`s own machine or system innovation
Elective studies alternative 1 (Innovation, Design and Completion of an Energy Technology Device) trains the student to act as a member in an industrial product development and design team. (S)he knows the principles of product design and engineering, manufacturing and assembly. The student learns how to use various design tools and is able to apply them in a real design project. (S)he will appreciate the importance of design for manufacturing and assembly. The student is able to document the design work and publish the results in a product data management system.

Elective studies alternative 2 ( International Project Management in Energy Business) trains the student to work in international industrial projects, specially in energy business. The student can lead business supporting process development projects. S/he understands importance of marketing and knows the tools and methods to implement the project. S/he also knows the features of plant controlling systems. The aim of the thread is to coach the student to be able to apply for the basic level project management certificate awarded by IPMA.
