Taking the Course and Exams
To get started
- Learn how to: send email; read email; add and open attachments.
- Setup an email Account (In case you do not have one).
- Make sure that your email account is properly functioning (we recommend the use of VAMK UAS students email address for our Degree students).
- Make sure you are connected to the internet (Private connection or at VAMK University).
Starting the course
It is the students’ responsibility to scale-out his/her time plan such that it fits into the virtual studies schedule of activities. Assignments, discussions and other activities should be taken serious. Deadlines are very important. Virtual study is a flexible path to professionalism. However, flexibility requires discipline.
Suggestions about what you could do:
- Study the course instructions carefully.
- Familiarize yourself with the course plan.
- Create enough time for your assignments and other duties (e.g. discussions).
In case the course schedule does not fit into your activities; fashion-out your own schedule, taking the following into consideration:
- Hours needed to handle the course curriculum,
- Communicating with other members of your group,
- Dates, exams, assignments and deadlines,
- Your personal obligations
During the course
- Be active in discussions and other group works.
- Ask actively if you do not know something.
- Give constructive criticism about things which disrupt the studies.
- Name the files as agreed.
- Use rtf-mode, when using MS Word. This will help avoid distribution of files containing viruses.
- Use zip-files if you have big files to return.
- Respect given deadlines!
After the course
1. Give honest feedback. Your evaluative response will help facilitate future decisions concerning the course(s) and its instructor(s)

Exams
Exams are conducted electronically at the eLearning Platform (Course Management System). However, some courses demands a class room based exams which shall be conducted within VAMK University premises at the city of Vaasa.
Notice
University of Applied Sciences (VAMK) will not pay for, or reimburse expenses or losses resulting from travelling to/from the point examination except where there is a written agreement beforehand.
