This is a competition for student projects where the aim is to develop students’ professional skills. The results will be published, the prizes awarded and projects presented at the INSSIFORUM 2017 event in the Lahti Sibelius Hall on the 22nd and 23rd of March, 2017. The competition is coordinated by Lahti University of Applied Sciences. The 2017 competition follows the model used at INSSIFORUM 2015, created by Metropolia University of Applied Sciences.

The competition aims to:

  • demonstrate how the working life and studies are integrated
  • give students a visible role in the forum and in the development of engineering education
  • highlight the joy and versatility that real projects bring to learning.

Nomination of candidates – who can participate

The competition can be entered by groups of students from universities of applied sciences, where at least 1/3 of the members are engineering students. The projects must meet the following criteria:

  • Teacher’s assessment of the work
  • ”Elevator pitch” presentation video

All the materials are submitted through an electronic form, text files as attachments and the video as a link.
The project must be sent for evaluation by the end of January 2017. The participants will be informed on which projects will be invited for the presentation by 28 February. The prize winners will be announced at the INSSIFORUM 2017 event in Lahti on 22 March 2017.

The projects will be evaluated by a multidisciplinary jury, consisting of representatives of industry, universities of applied sciences and students:

  • Anne Ahkola-Lehtinen, Teknologiateollisuus ry
  • Anni Siltanen, Kemianteollisuus ry
  • Paavo Lyytikäinen, Metsäteollisuus ry
  • Tapio Kari, Rakennusteollisuus RT ry
