The e-mail system is divided into two different systems, where of one system is used mainly by the students and the other by personnel.
Students
Webmail.puv.fi –e-mail service will be terminated on August 15th 2011
The new e-mail service provided by the school will be outsourced to Microsoft Live. E-mail accounts will automatically be created for all students by August 15th 2011 :
- The old e-mail address provided by the school will still function but e-mail will be redirected to the new e-mail account
- IMPORTANT! You will be required to change your VAMK usernames password once in order to be able to access the new account. After doing that you will be able to access your account via the Microsoft Live service. The creation of the password will take approximately 5 minutes.
Microsoft Live
- http://login.live.com
- your e-mail address AND Microsoft Live username will be in the form of e1234567@edu.vamk.fi (example)
- the size of the e-mail account is 10GB (the maximum size of one message is 25-35MB)
- storage space (skydrive) of 25GB
- in addition to browser access you can access your e-mail via IMAP and POP-protocols and through different mobile devices

MS Live does not provide backup of the e-mail account or of the Skydrive.
It is possible to retrieve e-mail that have been emptied from the deleted items folder during the past 14 days by following these instructions:

You can still use another e-mail address if you wish. You can do that by changing the e-mail address of your own information in Winha Wille (only one address!), the change will be active next day.

Personnel
The form of the personnel's e-mail addresses is firstname.lastname@puv.fi and username@puv.fi. The following user interfaces are supported for e-mail usage.
Outlook Web Access
You can access your e-mail via your browser at the following address https://outlook.puv.fi.
Microsoft Office Outlook
The default mail program within the school is the Microsoft Outlook-program. The Exchange server to be contacted through the program is outlook.puv.fi.
Mail for Exchange
For mobile phones there is programs that allows synchronization of e-mail, calendar, contacts/address book and tasks.

Limitations
The maximum size of an e-mail message, including attachment, is 25MB. The maximum size of the whole e-mail account (Exchange) is 2GB.
