Sustainable Tourism Development (KESMA 1-project)
Sustainable tourism development project is an interregional project to develop a model for sustainable tourism business development for SMEs in rural areas. Micro enterprises and their customers are the target group and implementation of the project is focused in four regions: Central Finland, Ostrobothnia, Southern Ostrobothnia and Tampere region.
The aim is to deepen the understanding of the consumer behavior of the customers within the rural tourism. In addition the present state of the social and ecological sustainability in the small rural tourism enterprises is being investigated. As a result a model for sustainable tourism business development for small rural tourism enterprises is being developed. Time of the implementation is one year, 2010 - 2011.
Outputs of the project:
- Present state analysis of the social and ecological sustainability of the tourism business
- Publication of the customer survey results
- Development process and the regional variations with three categories (accessibility, cultural sustainability and ecological sustainability)
