Design Centre MUOVA

Design Centre Muova is a research and product development centre, which offers design, research and training services. Muova’s customers include companies and public organisations. Muova initiates and implements research and development projects concerning market-based design and creative know-how. Projects are based on the needs of the companies and on Muova’s special know-how.

Design Centre Muova’s personnel, operations and projects will be transferred under VAMK the first of January 2014. Muova operates as a separate unit. Muova’s diversified team consisting of ten employees includes experts on the fields of design, marketing and communications. Muova is located in Palosaari business centre at the address Wolffintie 36 F 11.

The Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture and the University of Vaasa participate in Muova’s operations with academic investments. Cooperation is conducted in for example project operations and in business cooperation. A post-doc student working in Muova on funding provided by the Aalto University also develops Muova’s academic research knowhow.

VAMK’s applied research emphasis assures Muova’s development and strong position as a regional influence. In research projects Muova studies and develops different design methods for different fields of operation. Muova’s mission is to respond to socially significant challenges and to develop the international competitiveness of companies with the means of design. The concept of design has lately expanded to include, besides traditional product design, also for example service design, strategic design and developing value networks by means of design.

Muova Cases: I-BIS -startup articles Finland

I-BIS, Innovative Business Growth in Start-ups aims to support European start-ups during their challenging first years of growth through a new business learning programme based on the European Business Growth Catalyst. I-BIS provides a special focus to female entrepreneurs too and provides business incubators enhanced possibilities to support start-up companies through Guide for Incubator Managers and providing I-BIS training for the incubators’ staff. I-BIS additionally delivers an online incubator (e-learning hub) and an Insider’s Guide on Doing Business Online, and promotes online networking and communities in Europe.
